Lights of Love Remembrance Online Service 2020

We would like to invite you to join us for our ‘Lights of Love’ remembrance service which this year will take place online on Friday 4th December 2020.

Unfortunately, we are unable to hold our usual face to face remembrance service but we want you to know that you are not alone and our live online ‘Lights of Love’ remembrance service is an opportunity for us to come together as a community, to ‘take a moment’ and to remember our loved ones.

The live online service will start at 7.30pm. At 8pm we will light a candle and take a moment for reflection. We would like to invite you to light a candle with us at this time.

Free remembrance bags, which include a tea light candle, are available to anyone living in the Forest of Dean, who would like to join us in lighting a candle to remember loved ones at our service.  The remembrance bag also includes an acorn card on which you might like to write a message to your loved one and hang on your Christmas Tree.

If you, a friend or family member would like a remembrance bag then please do contact us on 01594 811910 and we can arrange for it to be sent out to you.

NOTE: Please do take caution when lighting the candle and follow fire safety guidelines. Battery operated candles are available on request as an alternative.

How do I view the live online service?

Our service will be live streamed through our You Tube channel page. All you need to do to access the live stream is:

Click on the below link at 7.30pm on Friday 4th December 2020. This takes you through to our You Tube channel page:

Great Oaks You Tube Page

Alternatively you can go to the You Tube website which is www.youtube.com and once you are on this page you can search for our You Tube channel page in the search bar. You will need to search for ‘Great Oaks Hospice - Forest of Dean’.

Once you are on our You Tube channel page you should then be able to see the live stream video.

Please note:

  • There is NO CHARGE for being on our You Tube channel page or to watch the service.
  • You DO NOT need to sign into You Tube or subscribe to our You Tube channel to view the service.

We would however love you to subscribe to our You Tube channel so you can see more videos from us! There is also NO CHARGE for subscribing.

What if I am on the ‘Great Oaks Hospice – Forest of Dean’ You Tube channel page but I can’t see the live stream?

You may have pressed the link too early. If you are on our You Tube channel page earlier than 7.30pm the live stream may not have yet started so no video will be available for you to view and it will not automatically appear at 7.30pm. The video needs to have already started for you to view it. We would suggest:

  • retrying the link
  • or if you are using a computer or laptop to view the service, after 7.30pm you refresh the page. To do this hold down the ‘Ctrl’ button and press the ‘F5’ button.

What if I can’t ‘attend’ the live service or I want to watch it again?

We will be making a recording of the live service which will be available after  Friday 4th December 2020 on our website and on our You Tube channel page.

Donations

We recognise that at this time of year some people may want to make a donation in memory of their loved one. If you feel you would like to make a donation, please do contact us on 01594 811910.

We do hope that you are able to join us for our live online ‘Lights of Love’ remembrance service starting at 7.30pm on Friday 4th December 2020 where we will be coming together to light a candle and taking a moment and to remember our loved ones.
